not great - there is nothing advanced about this and it offers very little for advanced learners, i often found i was lookin up other books for the word and phrases i wanted as this book could not provide them. it has sub topics but the vocabulary in each one is quite sparse. for a better vocab book in french try Mot A Mot.
Brilliant Vocab Book - Was very helpful for all the topics I covered, and I found the section in the back containing conclusions and other phrases to use in essays very helpful.However, I rated it 4 star because I feel some phrases and words were a bit obscure and couldn t possibly see why they are necessary. I m not sure if there is a vocab specification for A Level and those words had to be included, but if not if it were up to me I d remove a few. Especially seeing as some sections have multiple words for the same meaning. Overall a good vocab book.
Helpful - This book is ideal as an accompaniment for French AS. It breaks down each section into managable chunks. Still, I didn t learn any of it..
If you re studying French A-Level you need this book - Since I started my French course I have been glued to this book- it is my Bible. It completely invaluable as it covers all the topics you need to be familiar with in a lot of useful detail. It also has a section on writing essays in general, with pages of both basic and more sophisticated words and phrases. It s a wise investment which is definitely worth a little over five pounds.
